On the north island places like the Bay of Islands, the Bay of Plenty, the geothermal region surrounding Rotorua and Lake Taupo, Napier and Hawkes Bay and the volcano's National Park including Mount Ruapehu are among the leading tourist areas. There is so much variety in the scenery on the north island it is a favorite with tour companies and campervan operators. New Zealand has developed a strong economy which relies on the export of its premium quality agricultural products, mining, manufacturing, tourism and education industries. many Pacific Island countries have reciprocal citizenship rights with New Zealand and consquently there is a continual inflow of migrants from these places.
